Established in 1987. In 1994 it was renamed the International Classical Guitar Interpretation Festival and Competition. Art director: Petko Genkov. The festival is financed by the popular French company “SAVAREZ” and by sponsors.
In 2006, the name was changed to “International Guitar Festival”, and Veska Genkova, Milena Valcheva and Valentin Valchev took charge of its organization.
The contest becomes part of the Cultural Calendar of the Municipality of Plovdiv.
The latest change in the abbreviation is “Plovdiv GuitArt Festival”, and its organizer since 2017 is Plovdiv guitarist Hristo Kolikov.
